I made this watercolour at dawn. I then walked back and forth the long sandy beach. The sea is of such a beautiful blue, it draws you, says Mrs Dafni from the village, and Despoina and Yiasoumis told us how they used to ride their bicycles to the beach sometimes in the afternoon. Despoina was afraid of the sea, but they would gather small crabs, limpets and sea snails and return to their house to make meze.
