clay male figure, Cypro-Geometric III / Cypro-Archaic I period (800-700 BC), Agia Eirini sanctuary

19.3.16 On the road to Agia Eirini, across from Kormakitis.

This whole search, to correlate the museum exhibits with the place where they were excavated, began from here, from the attraction I felt towards these creatures discovered at Agia Eirini. I visited the village many times during all seasons. A mixed village, situated on a hill, and between the village and the sea a fantastic wild asparagus forest. The beach is sandy and wide, I swam there in winter and in summer, until the locals warned me of the dangerous currents. Opposite the wide Bay of Morfou stretches Troodos. On the other side, Kornos, the triangular peak of Pentadaktylos, and Diorios. Last time I visited, I was told that foreigners were buying the land by the acre without even seeing it. I got very upset and have not visited the area since. I do miss it though.
