ivory plaque decorated with Nereid swimming, 4th-7th c. AD, Keryneia (probably imported from Syria)

28.8.17 Soft clouds touch upon the horizon, the sea of Keryneia.

Keryneia’s beauty largely lies in its relationship with Pentadaktylos. You need to cross the mountain in order to reach Keryneia and when you swim in its sea, as you swim back towards the land, the mountain always keeps you company, each time a different aspect of it. The mountain also holds the sea moisture of the night and makes the land fertile and green on its northern side.
