picrolite anthropomorphic figurine, Chalcolithic period (around 3000 BC), from the Pomos-Gialia area

13.8.21 Pomos, dawn.

Mythical rocks scattered in the sea. The heavy brown edges of the Troodos mountain range meet the water, making it easier to carry the load coming down from the mountain. Pomos (vomos — the Greek word for altar), an area where it seems to me that one can encounter the divinity. I sat down to make this painting early in the morning, just after sunrise, as the figures were just beginning to take their shape.
