zoomorphic askos of base ring ware with side spout in the form of a bull’s head, late Bronze Age (1450-1200 BC), Katydata

14.8.21 Katydata, the Karkotis River fl ows into the Bay of Pentageia.

Behind Katydata lies the Troodos mountain range, to its north the mine of Skouriotissa full of earthen mineral colours. I drive down a dirt road towards Skouriotissa and encounter United Nations sign-posts. I realise that I must have entered the dead zone by mistake. The view is magnificent, I can discern the river meandering down from the village to the Bay of Pentageia, on the left Vouni. Glorious view. I stay there and paint before turning around. The road leads to a dead end.
