4.9.21 Enthralling Platani, afternoon, the sun is blinding.

I first saw Platani perched below the steep slopes of the eastern Pentadaktylos and I admired its elevated fertile fi elds. The Mesaoria plain in these areas, towards Akanthou, rises to plateaus that eventually encounter the mountain peaks. An enthralling mythical area in ochres, umbers and coarse reds, I realise how it is natural that the place gave birth to a great culture. Behind Platani the mountain stretches out panoramically.
