limestone statue of a young girl, early Hellenistic period (3rd c. BC), Vitsada

18.4.22 Vitsada, below Pentadaktylos, in the afternoon.

I had a hard time fi nding the village, departing from Salamis I drove through dirt roads and goat paths towards the north until I finally saw it. Between golden fields, in the middle of the plain, in front of the elongated Pentadaktylos, the village seems cut off from all development. Calmness, beauty. The old stone-built mosque and the church, abandoned but in relatively good condition, are located within the same courtyard.
