limestone male statue, Cypro-Archaic II period (late 6th c. BC), Lefkonoiko

4.8.21 The fields of Lefkonoiko in the early afternoon.

Fertile land, at the crossroad towards eastern Mesaoria. Blues of Pentadaktylos and ochres, greens of the olive and the carob tree, cypresses. Raised fields. To reach Lef konoiko I pass through Agios Georgios where the church, with its semi-collapsed roof, stands beside the colourful plastic imported playground and the statue of Kemal. And from the evergreen Sygkrasi, where I am pleasantly surprised to find the church in a relatively good condition. Lefkonoiko is a town, I didn’t visit its centre but wandered around its beautiful and well-kept fields.
