23.8.21 Sotira-Tteppes, further away, the sea.

I notice the hill from a distance. The location, above the sanctuary of Apollo, is situated between the sea and the mountain. At noon, the place is exposed to the summer heat, the blue of the sea hardly visible due to the humidity. I visit the two archaeological sites and admire the carob trees, what great trees they are, natural air conditioners. Under their foliage, I am soothed by a pleasant cool breeze. I observe Tteppes (the hill) as seen from the archaeological site below and begin to draw. I try to capture the peculiar mass of stones which are gathered in a rectangle. As I use my colour pencils, I realise that the shape doesn’t come out accurately, but the question mark is rendered. What was its use? I observe another array of stones. I feel a strong attraction towards the stones of the areas I visit.
