27.7.15 The Saint from Peristeri, Karpasia.

Between the Kastros and the Monastery of Apostolos Andreas, one encounters Peristeri. Perhaps the most beautiful location, according to my psychogeography. Before the church was renovated, we would meet Father Zacharias sitting sturdy in the opening of the western double door, which looked out onto the sea and the islands of Kleides. The walls were covered with the soot of the candles that had burned during an entire lifetime. I remember a wax Cyprus, whole, an offering for healing. Now, after the renovation, it is no longer there. But I am always happy to encounter Lefteris, the wise guardian of the Saint, Çamay and their little offspring, Andreas and the blue-eyed Daphne. Her eyes reflect the sea.
